Oha Honey

Oha Honey (Previously known as Watson & Son) is the largest 100% Maori owned Manuka Honey company in New Zealand. Our parent company, Ngai Tahu, is the principal iwi (tribe) of the South Island.

The name Oha reflects the journey travelled to deliver this special product of Manuka Honey to the world.

Our Manuka Honey is offered to the world under our Watson & Son black label. We also offer delicious variations of other New Zealand native honeys under our Watson & Son blue label, from dark and rich Rewarewa and Kamahi to light and mellow clover and wildflowers - all sourced from pristine New Zealand pastures and forests.

Molan Gold Standard

The Molan Gold Standard is a trademark used by Watson & Son as a marker of the Methylglyoxal content in Manuka Honey.

The Molan Gold Standard is a government approved certification mark that appraises the natural marker methylglyoxal found in Manuka honey, and assures purity and quality. The Molan Gold Standard is set to give our consumers full confidence that what they are purchasing has an accurate, scientifically conducted measurement of the claimed methylglyoxal content. All Watson & Son Manuka honey is rigorously tested for its methylglyoxal content and certified by an accredited New Zealand laboratory under the ISO17025 standard. A Lab certificate for any batch of Watson & Son Manuka honey is available upon request.

The Molan Gold Standard was developed and named after Dr Peter Molan, who is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading honey scientists. Dr Molan has been carrying out research on honey since 1981, publishing many well-known papers in international scientific and medical journals.
